Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day.
August 2 Question: What are your pet peeves when reading/writing/editing?
My overriding issues during reading/writing/editing are due to various health issues. My cognitive abilities (foggy head/terrible memory/fleeting concentration, etc) all reduce my focus and concentration and so impact reading, writing and editing. My mind is always thinking twelve (or so) things at once. Editing is a slow lumbering process of trying to remember why I wrote a note and what I mean by it. Writing can be huge fun if I’m steaming ahead but when I need to stop for any reason, I return to find I’ve completely forgotten where I was or what I was saying and it can be difficult to get it back to where I was. Even reading, which I love, is great if I can keep track of all the characters, their names and purpose in the story and plot lines, over the days and nights and weeks it take to finish reading the book. Or whether I can remember anything of the lessons learned for all the craft books I read.
Sometimes, I want to do this!
There is little I can do other than take my meds and try to be healthy, so I get on with it. Like we all do. 🙂
What are your pet peeves?
Now, the lovely Nick Wilford gave my an AWARD!
Thanks Nick! 🙂
The rules for this award are simple:
- Say thank you to the person who nominated you.
- Answer the 11 questions they asked.
- Nominate 11 people and ask them 11 questions of your own.
Here are Nick’s questions for me:
So. Many. Times! I lack a sense of direction (seriously, I could get lost in a car park, which is why it’s a good job I don’t drive). The outcome is that I rarely go anywhere alone (although, that’s also to do with my social anxiety disorder) and if I do it’s only to places I know.
As for the nominations:
Hope this is okay, Nick? But I thought I’d make it easier on myself (and anyone else who has probably done this) and do this…
If you haven’t done this before, or want to do this again, take the award (the badge) with my blessing and link back to this post (if you don’t mind) and tell us eleven interesting things about yourself, including (but not restricted to) the following:
Your natural hair colour, your best subject from school, the first record you bought, the first movie you saw in theatres, the day you knew you were in love, why your genre is your genre, your weakness, your strength, your ambitions, your least favourite foods, the best movie you ever saw which was first a book.
