Here’s mine . . .
Today is a quickie. I’m celebrating inspiration.
A horror publisher [Dark Chapter Press] who hold monthly competitions for publication in an anthology inspired me with a prompt and a picture (which I can’t show you as per rules). Immediately a story popped into my head. I featured this press here on the blog a few weeks back, and respect their ethos. So I thought, what the hell. Have a go.
I wrote a flash fiction horror tale and am in the process of editing it before I send it off. It probably won’t ‘win’ a spot, but at least I’m writing my own things again, and it’s the first flash fiction story I’ve done in a couple of years. I used to love writing them. You can really pack in loads of happenings (emotionally, physically) into a few moments of someones’ life (or death). 🙂 But what with one thing of another, I left writing FF to write longer works.
It was a challenge. It was a lot of fun. It reminded me to keep sentences tight and the whole thing concise. What’s not to love about learning?
