My time slot is between 1-2pm on 19th September – tomorrow – where I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What is your earliest horror related memory?
- Have you ever been terrified in real life?
- Who is your horror hero?
For those of you who are here for this months Mental Muse however, I’m afraid there isn’t one this month. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to be the next Mental Muse by emailing me here: shah wharton at gmail dot com. Sorry for any confusion. 🙂
Rosa was once a young, vibrant, intelligent woman in love. But that was before everything changed. Now, she lives a horrific existence with her daughter, Bella. Read her account of their decline, of her tragic realisations, and of the destruction of everything.
This is a UK based short story told in journal format, which focuses on the decline of a reluctant mother’s world, her life, her mind, and the tragic consequences thereof. It is also a reworking or a former, much shorter post-apocalyptic story. See if you get the twist.

Imagine the United Kingdom after an election, where the party of choice — the party now in charge of every decision — is The Dead Party. Stinks, right?
Follow our heroine as she recounts how her life, her country, and her access to fish and chips – a basic right in any UK home – changed unimaginably. And see what fate awaits her on an island where the Dead reek and speak and chase her into trees.
This is a political satire, exploring an island ruled by zombies, a massive recruitment initiative, an unpredictable supernatural power, a whole lot of rot… Oh, and one incredibly sly cat!
**This is the second version of The Dead Party. The original, much shorter version was published by Sirens Call Publications 2012.

It wasn’t the first time Bernie had woken up in a stranger’s house with a sore head, although it’d been a while. But the stench of rotting meat, an eerie silence, and the head wound were new. In search of illumination, she opens the curtains to find a post-apocalyptic world outside. Reason screams—those aren’t sleeping revellers at her feet… they’re clammy dead bodies.
Struggling to remember the events leading to her taking refuge under a stranger’s bed, Bernie stumbles around, wounded and disoriented. In desperation, she hunts down the living, but with death and destruction everywhere, isolation becomes a monster all of its own.
The events that led to this disaster begin to raid her mind, offering only snippets of forgotten information. When a girl finds her and leads her to other survivors, will Bernie remember the most important details in time to save them all, or are their fates irreversible?
Want another horror fix? Here’s a horror book feature!
If you have to find a sacred book in order to redeem your parents, find and kill Max, the person responsible for their punishment. The same man that broke your heart and turned your perfect world upside down and try to keep the mortal man you now love safe from this vindictive Vampire’s sword, then you should read Rachel’s story.
JUDGEMENT OF SOULS is a Paranormal Romance/Gothic Horror in which a naïve pure blood Vampire is tossed into the mortal world. Rachel meets Daniel, a nightclub owner and his group of friends and after Daniel’s best friend is murdered by Max (Rachel’s ex-lover), becomes embroiled in the search for an ancient Vampire artefact. Rachel tries to fight off her feelings for Daniel, even siding with her Vampire friend Arun to think again about Daniel’s involvement, but he’s her love and she’s going to protect him.
No matter what.
This exciting trilogy has already been optioned for a future movie!

Author Bio
I live in Cardiff with my partner and three little mad dogs and I work for a well-known TV broadcasting company. I love living in Cardiff because, for all its modernisation, there are still remnants of an old Victorian city. I love writing and base my stories in Cardiff because it has such character. When I can, I go out to the coast and take photographs, mind you, we have a lovely castle in the city centre and a fairytale one just on the outskirts, so when I feel I can’t write anything, I take a ramble to those locations and it clears my head.
I suppose it was inevitable that some day I would write a novel. My teachers at school used to limit me to no more than ten pages. When I left school, I wrote short stories for magazines, and it paid my way through college. I am Gothic, I love the fashion, the architecture and the music. The club in my novel is real. When I was writing book one, I got all my club material and clientele from here, I wouldn’t have finished that section without it.

What a chilling line up! I’m not sure who my favorite horror author would be. Lots of good ones out there.
I found that questions difficult too. So many great authors, and all different. 🙂
That’s awesome your story is in that boxed set!
Lol, it’s a boxed set of three of my stories Alex. But thanks 🙂 X
Horror week, eh? How did I miss that? Such a great line up, and just in time for Halloween. Yay!
Hop along Crystal. There are radio shows, movies, all sorts of contributors. 🙂
Definitely sounds like a horrific weekend. Enjoy!
My favorite horror is the kind where you are scared to death. You look under your bed, you have to keep doors closed while you sleep, you may go and check on your children to make sure they are okay. That is horror I like the nitty gritty, scared crapless kind. Which is really hard to find now a days. My favorite horror authors man I have so many but it all goes back to the classic man Stephen King. Thanks for the chance.
Brilliant line up and a horror weekend sounds good. Also the box set looks amazing. Have a lovely and brilliant weekend Shah. 😀
I LOVE STEPHEN KING AND THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY!
How cool… I didn’t realize it was horror week. Might have to check it out and might be a good reason to grab a horror book to read.
My fave horror authors, well the Creme De La Creme-Anne Rice, Stephen King, Clive Barker
Darn, I missed this horror weekend. Hope your time slot went well!
