Coffin Hop: What’s your preference of #horror, and my #Halloween Box Set!

Many of you will know I”ve relocated from Dubai recently. I’ve therefore been completely offline for over two weeks – a horror story in its own right – but I’m back (online and in the UK)! And just in time to share my Halloween offer, and to get involved in this meme and share my Halloween Box Set. But first the Coffin Hop!

I was reminded about this awesome hop for horror writers / readers by Julianne Snow – author of mega zombie fiction and all round brain of survivalist matters. She’s also a really cool chic. 🙂 Go read her Coffin Hop post where she asks several authors ‘if you could change one thing about the horror industry, what would it be?’. You’ll meet few awesome authors, read their answer to this question, and have the option to get involved with her Rafflecoptor giveaway! My entries are in. 🙂

I’m can’t claim to know much about the horror industry, so my perspective is simply down to my own tastes in horror.

My horror preference:

I don’t have a need for gore in my horror movies / books, but I’m not averse to it as long as it’s not the sole focus for horror. I want to be terrified, hiding behind pillows, challenged to keep watching, or intrigued by a horrific mystery, bending my psyche to the brink as we explore a character. I don’t want to watch unending intestines, slashing of throats, popping of eyeballs, ripping of limbs type-gore.

Some of this list did gore well.

Check out this awesome list of creepy movies you can view on Neflix. Here’s one which I just have to get m hand on…. scary!!

What’s your preference?

And now for my Halloween offer.

Many of you will know I’ve been working hard to get three horror shorts of mine ready for publication. One, a novella, is up on preorder now for $1.99 (not available until 30th). The other two shorts are up for 99c each, for now. But from 30th October until 5th November, I’m offering ALL THREE for ONLY 99c 🙂

Kindle Halloween Box Set cover

All the blurbs can be found on their Amazon pages, so, get theeself off to Amazon and pick up your copy before I take away this box set. 🙂 Oh, and have a pumpkin-tastic, scary-thrill-ride of a Halloween! 🙂 X

I somehow missed VHS, might see if I can catch it Halloween night.
Best of luck with the box set.

Such a big move. Are you exhausted or energized?

I like thriller horror over gore but I can handle some gore.

Any horror movie will do, but I have a preference for obscure horror from the seventies and eighties. If no one knows about it, it’s for me 😉

I’m totally with you – I don’t like non-stop gore. Not a fan of slasher movies.

Your box set is a great deal! I will tweet about it now. Happy Halloween!

Yes to the horror stuff, especially in October. It just fits perfectly. Glad you’re re-re-located. Hope all is well.

See, Shah. I knew you were awesome! 🙂 Thanks for offering up the collection. I just snagged my copy.
Best wishes on your move. I hope you settle in soon, if you have yet to do so.
    Take care, my friend! *waves*

I like horror with everything! (Kinda like pizzas. lol) I love tragic characters like in “Let the Right One In” Amazing CG like in “Silent Hill.” And freaky gore like in “Final Destination.” Not usually found together though, huh? I loved your stories, “Dead Party” and “A Slow Burn,” and look forward to putting up my review of the latter soon. Have a wonderful Halloween in your new house!

Hi there Shah and welcome to the UK! 😀

I currently have a very bad Buffy addiction (courtesy of endless all series repeats on SyFy) so anything vaguely gothic or weird science usually gets my attention over out and out gorefests. Supernatural stuff creeps me out most if it’s well done and borderline plausible and I like violentish sci-fantasy (like Firefly or the new TV show Defiance – love the aliens on that!). Anything with a bit of thought in it anyway 😉

Dread: A Horror Collection

This is a deeply unsettling collection of British horror. Each story features a post-apocalyptic theme, though each is starkly different from the other.

A Slow Burn:
“I will admit to having read this with the lights well and truly on!! Such vivid imagery[…]I highly recommend this novella to all lovers of this genre.”

The Dead Party:
“One of the best political satires that I’ve come across in a long time!”

Rosa and Bella’s Journal Of Decline:
“Brilliant and addictive. Yet another fantastic book from this author.”
