The Storyteller Writing Challenge

14th March 2012 By Shah Wharton 7 Comments

The Storyteller Linky Button
Are you a Storyteller?

The Storyteller Linky Button CodePlease display this on your post 😀

If you’d like to co-host get in touch!

I made a few changes to this
Writing Challenge (check below for details)

So read on for this weeks muse magic…..

CHANGES:
1) No linky, simply pop your link URL to your post/response into the comments section below this post.
2) I’ve also ditched the prompt generator
3) As picture prompts seem to provide the greatest inspiration here, I’ll still be selecting one each week.But..
4) …I’ll also be adding an Other prompt along with it. That will change weekly. 🙂

So here is another inspirational
THE Picture PROMPT

This curious image is by the very talented Roman Tripler

No  Featured Storyteller this week 🙁

For this weeks picture prompt, tell us what is evoked by this curious and voyeuristic image.
Who is this gentleman? Whats his story? What’s he up to? And what of the expression on his face?
 You decide.

THE Other PROMPT

“Write for two minutes about a man called Ben. Include the following words: job, lost, Robin.“

Choose from these genre: Horror, Romance, Sci-Fi.
As always, poetry or prose is fine for either prompt-type.
Your word count must range within 20 – 700 please.

You might find it helpful to bookmark this post and come back to pop the links to your responses within the comments section below, by Tuesday evening, so that we can see your link and stop by to read your post response. You might be Featured Storyteller.

RULE: Visit everyone else’s post and give constructive feedback please. This is meant to be fun but also a learning exercise for all concerned. Thank you, Storytellers. 🙂

As much as I would like to write for this challenge, you never posted my comment that had my link to your last Storyteller challenge. I absolutely love the poem that you and Trifecta inspired me to write. It is just too frustrating to go to all the trouble of writing something and then not have it posted or looked at. 🙁

I am wondering if comments with links go automatically into your spam folder?

Hey shah! Thanks for another wonderful prompt. The guy in the picture seems to have a lot of character however creepy that character is. lol.

Also, since I have been so bad with awards, I just now got around to answering your award and I recived another from Ruthie, which I am now passing onto you! Come check it out here…

It was posted? And I loved the poem – I came and commented? Am I in your spam? Sorry about my commenting moderation issues. If it doesn't show up straight away it will do so at some point that day – when I get chance to moderate. I have emailed DISQUS to ask what the issue is, but they say to moderate more often (unhelpful!) – which I do as often as poss – but I cannot do more than that. I am new to this commenting facility and not used to having to moderate several times a day just in case the odd comment gets misplaced.

NOTE: Also, the challenge lasts between Wednesday (when the new challenge post goes up) till the following Tuesday. If you post toward the end of one challenge, going into the next, you may get less people seeing your link unfortunately.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling neglected, Morgan – 🙁

You know when I leave comments or look at the linky, there is nothing ever there. Any of the weeks. Then I'm always surprised that Shah has picked someone's work to highlight.  So I wonder what's going on…..

Heather, the linky has gone for this challenge… its been gone now a few weeks. I wasn't getting enough to warrant the failing around with it every week and I'd seen others do this – popping links into the comments section instead of bothering with a linky. Its a trial and error thing I guess. But DISQUS has been moderating and taking its time with some of the comments. Very few in real terms. But its still annoying. You see none some weeks because there are none, but on those weeks I don't say there are no Featured Storytellers (as no one entered) . TBH I'm tiring of the whole linky thing – its always letting me down and its a lot of hassle for little pay-off. Very frustrating . Bleh!

Dread: A Horror Collection

This is a deeply unsettling collection of British horror. Each story features a post-apocalyptic theme, though each is starkly different from the other.

A Slow Burn:
“I will admit to having read this with the lights well and truly on!! Such vivid imagery[…]I highly recommend this novella to all lovers of this genre.”

The Dead Party:
“One of the best political satires that I’ve come across in a long time!”

Rosa and Bella’s Journal Of Decline:
“Brilliant and addictive. Yet another fantastic book from this author.”
